How to Track SEO Rankings: The Best GuideHow to Track SEO Rankings: The Best Guide

SEO is an important part of our digital world. In 2022, there is a 69% increase in the budget for engine optimization, and that number does not want to stop. But what is a solid SEO strategy? Where to start? How do I track status? We’ll cover search engine optimization and how to create an easy SEO ranking checklist.

Let’s get some basics out of the way. When we talk about SEO ranking, we are considering the position of the website for specific keywords on the search results page. Many factors affect website quality, including organic search traffic, SEO optimization, backlinks, keyword authority, user experience, content quality, site speed, and more.

Why is SEO important?

The higher your page is at the top of the search results page, the more trusted it is. This will result in clicks and organic traffic to your site. Therefore, the purpose of a high SEO ranking is to build trust with the reader and the Google search engine. And trust is productive.

How to set SEO benchmarks?

Ranking above 5 on a given topic will get you around 67% more clicks. Given this, you should need at least five positions on each topic related to your business.

Second, consider search goals. If you’re already ranking #1 or #2 in search, but you’re still not getting results, you’re probably ranking for keywords that don’t match your content.

You can also target keywords that aren’t well researched, or your content doesn’t match the search intent.

How can I check my SEO quality?

To determine whether one page or multiple landing pages are performing well, you must first evaluate their current SEO quality. The most popular platform to use for checking SEO rankings is Google Search Console. Here’s how it goes:

  • Select the section whose status you want to check from the top left menu;
  • Go to the search results;
  • Find the rightmost square – this is your average position over time;
  • Scroll below the question and you will see the keywords you are ranking for;
  • You can search by location and see your key words for this page.

If you use third-party tools like Ahrefs or Semrush, here’s how to check your keyword rankings:

1. In the Overview window, enter the main section name;

Enter the keyword in the search bar Include. The example below shows SEO research topics;

2. Check from the position of the subject in order;

You can now see the status of the article and of the article or the landing page of the announcement for it.

Many SEO tools can help you do this. They are often called webmaster tools. Google Search, SEMRush and Ahrefs are good for this. Also, you can track Google rankings in organic and paid search using the SE Ranking Google Ranking Checker. Along with showing how your pages rank for your target query, this tool provides information about their search volume, traffic forecasts, and SERP features.
